Hani Khalil:

Was born in 1993, a contemporary Sudanese artist currently residing in Nairobi, graduated from the University of Sudan with a degree in Fine and Applied Arts, where he developed a distinctive artistic style that blends cultural heritage with spiritual exploration. Jawdat's work is deeply influenced by Sufism and the practices of the Dervishes, where he addresses the theme of the Mahdi rule in Sudan, showcasing the historical conflicts between the Dervishes and colonial forces.

His artistic style is characterized by a deep interaction with the concept of "Wajd", which he likens to the rhythmic harmony in Dervish prayers.

He describes the state of Wajd as similar to the movements of fish in the sea, following the rhythm of the drum - a symbol of unity, spirituality, and the pursuit of transcendence.

Since the beginning of his professional career, Jawdat has participated in over 39 art exhibitions, including solo exhibitions, both locally and internationally.

He also places great importance on community development and social engagement, having managed numerous workshops since 2015, using art as a means of empowerment and dialogue. In the past seven years, Hani's paintings have begun to discuss history and politics in Sudan's regional context.

Through his impactful and profound works, Hani Khalil Jawdat invites his audience to reflect on issues of identity, spirituality, and the impact of historical narratives on our reality.
