Yasir Algrai Profile

Yasir Algrai is a Sudanese visual artist, animation director, and animator, born in 1993. He began his artistic journey in 2012 and graduated in 2016 from the College of Fine and Applied Arts at Sudan University of Science and Technology, specializing in printmaking. His work addresses social and human rights issues, using acrylics, watercolors, and inks as his primary mediums.

Yasir has collaborated with several international organizations, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, Plan International, and the UNDP, as well as with Sudanese youth organizations. In 2022, he led an art workshop for refugees at the Trauma Center of Ahfad University, using art as a tool for healing and addressing psychological trauma.

His work has been featured in group exhibitions in Khartoum — including at the French Institute — and in Nairobi, as well as in international shows such as “What Lingers” (Hamburg, 2023), “I Am the Earth” (Jordan, 2022), and “The Power of the Collective” (Virginia, 2024). In 2022, he held his first solo exhibition at Studio Zan in Khartoum.

Alongside his artistic practice, Yasir also works as an art teacher, specializing in freehand drawing and color theory. He believes that art is a powerful medium for expression, education, and recovery.
